On October 7th, a couple was walking at the intersection of US 19 and Tarpon Avenue when they heard muffled cries. Upon investigation, they realized that there was a baby kitten trapped in the drain! When called, the Tarpon Springs Fire Department sprang into action and arrived quickly at the scene. It took some doing, but these heroes were able to pull him to safety. They are Tarpon Springs Fire Dept. Squad 69 A Shift, left to right: Firefighter Trainee Schmidt, Paramedic Teixeira, Firefighter Swan, Lieutenant Fuller.
The finders contacted us on October 10th, and we said, "Bring him!!!" This little guy is such a riot. At only 1.36 lb, he thinks he's one of the big boys and wants to come out of his condo and play. Under direct supervision, we allow it - but he's SO tiny, we have to keep a close eye on him. He doesn't have a name yet. Since he was found in Tarpon Springs, we were looking for a Greek name, but it doesn't have to be. He's brave, he's curious, he's uber affectionate, he's a fluffy ball of fur. He loves to be held, and when you go to put him down, he clings to you with his little claws in your shirt. He just wants to be loved! Do you have a good name for him?
We've really taken a hit with donations the last two months. The times are pretty scary with the hurricanes and the economy in general. If you can afford to send any amount for his care, we'd so greatly appreciate it. No amount is too small to matter. In any event, please share.
