Dear Mystique, what traumas have you experienced out there on your own? Mystique is about three years old. She's very loving, but very leery of other cats. She ventured out of her condo the other day and stayed on the down low until we finally found her hiding spot. She's back in the condo decompressing. This post title, "Meet Mystique," immediately brought to mind a time I encountered something truly unexpected and captivating. I was hiking a lesser-known trail in the mountains a few years back, and as I rounded a bend, there was this absolutely enormous hawk perched on a low branch, just watching me. It wasn't scared at all, just held its ground with this intense, unblinking gaze.
