Carlito needs your help

Writer's picture: The Little Cats RescueThe Little Cats Rescue

Less than three days in, and Carlito is doing fantastically! He cried so much in the crate, so I let him out last night and let him figure it out on his own. Such a smart boy! Did he figure it out? I found him in the next room! He had gotten up on the table and thru the doggy door, which is in the high window that goes from the bedroom to the lanai. He's doing so well. Everybody seems to be accepting him. In fact, when I walked into the room, Bruce was kissing him.

I spoke to Citrus County Animal Control yesterday, (where they did a terrible job on his ear tip and his amputation) because I wanted clarification on the nature of his wounds. They said "probably snake and dog and cat." They told me that he should never kept inside because "he's been outside his whole life and he would not do well inside." Clearly, they do not know what they're talking about. My question to them was: "you're telling me that you do not know the origin of his wounds and yet you wanted to release him back into the wild? What happened to State mandatory isolation for an animal with wounds of unknown origin? (Like Johnny Blaze, who had to be kept in isolation under the care of a vet for three months.) She had no answer and was actually angry with me for not releasing him back outside. What is wrong with these people? He couldn't protect himself with FOUR legs, how was he going to protect himself with only three? Carlito is a sweet sweet boy, the furthest from feral as a cat could be. Once we get his dental done, we will be putting him up for adoption. He's a loving lap cat. If you're interested in adopting him please submit an adoption application.
